Consultative Services
Meet with our providers to receive guidance on diagnoses, medications, and other treatments, all in one visit.
What to expect from a consultation with The Cove
A consult is designed to be a one-time 90 minute appointment for those seeking psychoeducation and guidance in their care without the commitment of long term management with the practice. This consult can help better direct you and your primary provider to tailor care to your individual needs, or help you better understand if it’s appropriate for you to establish with a regular mental health provider.
During your appointment, you can expect a detailed review of your symptoms, diagnoses to be considered, treatment options available including medications, and discussion of any other questions you may have.
By the end of the consultation, you will have:
A thorough written assessment sent directly to you and/or your primary care provider.
Education on how your physical health conditions may be contributing to your current symptoms.
Recommendations on medications to explore further with a current or future prescriber.
Information on non-medication treatment options available in the community.
Guidance on how to establish with a long-term provider.
A consult is right for you if…
You are new to mental health care and want to find out if ongoing mental health treatment would be helpful.
You’re unfamiliar with how to navigate the North Carolina mental health system, either for yourself or a loved one, and you want to discuss different levels of care available.
You have not yet found a provider, or are currently on a wait list for a provider, and would like to be assessed more quickly to have a framework while you pursue longer term care.
You and your primary provider are seeking guidance from a specialized clinician to help direct your care.
You are curious if your established diagnoses are still accurate.
You are dissatisfied with your current medications and want to assess their necessity and potential alternatives.
You want to learn more about the relationship between your physical health and mental health.
You want to be assessed by a psychiatrist but don’t want to commit to long term specialized care.
